About the Gemstone:
Garnet, the birthstone for January suggests eternal friendship and trust and is the perfect gift for a friend. Garnet is a stone of regeneration and energising. Emotionally, considered a stone of increasing commitment, honesty, hope and faith. It is a stone of positive thoughts.
Pearls are the June birthstone. Pearls, according to South Asian mythology, were dewdrops from heaven that fell into the sea. They were caught by shellfish under the first rays of the rising sun, during a period of full moon. Pearls are said to give the wearer a sense of calmness and centeredness and to promote faith, loyalty, truth and purity. Pearls are nature’s perfect gift, suitable for all ages, and elegantly worn with everything from jeans to an evening dress.
Sterling Silver is 92.5% pure silver with some base metal, usually copper, added for strength. As the purity of the silver decreases, the issue of tarnishing increases because other metals in the alloy may react over time with oxygen in the air. To help keep its shine, keep it in an airtight plastic bag when you are not wearing it. To clean it gently swipe it across with a polishing cloth.
What is Gold Filled?
The term “gold filled” means that a thick layer of gold is bonded to a base of other alloys such as rhodium, brass or sterling silver through heat and high pressure. The gold layer on gold filled is approximately 100 times thicker than gold plated. Gold filled items are regulated and the quantity of gold must be at least 1/20th by weight of the total product which is 5% the gold content and 95% other metals. It is safe for most people with sensitive skin and is hard wearing.
Bracelets contain small parts that could present a choking hazard, so adult supervision is required at all times. Jewellery pieces are NOT toys and should NOT be given to babies or very young children to play with.
